Oakwood Brass Members Alicia, Nick, and Darren at 5 Acres Open House on December 5th.  Attendee’s listened to holiday music on a chilly night for the Annual Open House.

The New Year began with a Senior Center Concert at the

York Healthcare and Wellness Center.  This was a celebration day as our music was thoroughly enjoyed by Wellness Center Residents. 

It was a return engagement for Oakwood Brass - Outreach Project who began their association with Pasadena Arts Council in February of 2013.  Their first performance under their fiscal sponsorship with PAC was at the YHWC.

Music selecrtions included holiday favorites Here Comes Santa Claus and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.  Listeners also enjoyed Hanukkah Suite and Christmas Time.

The Waverly School Concert on April 25

Alicia Mastromonaco, Nicholas Daley, Darren Dvoracek,

James Edwards, and Jonathan Bradley perform for students at

The Waverly School in Pasadena. Using selections of music from classical, jazz, and film the group shared the history and sound of brass instruments. Meter, rhythm, melody, improvisation, and fugue were also included in the instructional programs for PreK- 12th grade students.

Student Mentoring Programs continue at Jackson STEM Duel Language Academy. OBOP is a partner at Eliot ARTS Academy and Wilson Middle School providing coaching for their students. Their students receive instruction on brass instruments during their school music classes to improve their musicianship, learn how to read music, and provide support for their continued study of a brass instrument.

Oakwood Brass - Outreach Project is proud to announce that we are a recipient of a Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, Tournament of Roses Foundation, and Music Performance Trust Fund grants for 2017. These grants will be used to partially fund comprehensive programs designed to promote and support instrument studies through concerts, hands-on learning with instruments, and mentoring for young musicians.
